This Season – Post Tour Thoughts

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

One thing that I wish I had done while on tour last month is blogging.  I had good intentions to do so, but there wasn’t always time to spare (or wifi) between the highway miles, load-in/out, and minimal hours of sleep. But thanks to the good old fashioned paper and pen I kept track of a lot along the way. There has been much to think about and process since coming back. I learned a lot about the business, the basics, and the blessings. It was truly amazing to meet such unique people along the way. Many cities looked strikingly similar, especially with the familiar franchise signage and architecture. And while there was something comforting with that familiarity, it bothered me a bit as it seemed to mask the uniqueness of some places. It didn’t steal the beauty beyond it though. The beautiful array of persons and personalities I met or interacted with added depth to this country’s corners and corridors. It was refreshing to find and meet the real America behind the thin veil franchises.

One city that I must not fail to mention and that I experienced for the first time on this trip was New York City. Not only was it my first time there, but I actually drove into it… And I realized something – In that awesome city, lines on the road are nothing more than a gentle suggestion. Wow. I am eager to getting back there and taking time to look around and explore it more.

There is so much more than I could write about in just one sitting at the keyboard. But I do know this – I look forward to the next tour… It’s a true blessing to find your wings…
