Stars on the Ceiling - Part 4
Saturday, August 9th, 2008Volleyball… US team is up by 2… I’m up AT 2.. 2am that is. Tonight I spent the evening people watching and writing downtown. The streets were busy tonight and it was too nice outside to not enjoy the weather. For some reason I love being in a downtown area on a night like this. But, a beagle and the need for sleep drew me back home.
This week I’m getting ready for another road trip. I’m heading back to Nashville to the studio again. The last trip was great. I met several other artists in the area and explored some cool venues like Douglas Corner and Christopher Pizza. We have most of the work done now for two more songs. This time we will be adding some keys and finalizing the vocals then possibly start work on another track for the project. Capping off the trip with a show in Paducah at the Summer Festival was so much fun. The music from the festival was broadcast on local television and I hope to have a clip posted here on the website soon. The whole show can be viewed at tv.westkentucky.kctcs.edu/videoclips/PSF_2008/16706_adrea_laroche/video.wmv. We met some wonderful people there and the town was great. We met the guys from Crossin Dixon, who played after me. Though some threatening weather cut them off after one song, they later got out their acoustics and played unplugged under one utility light for a crowd that had re-gathered on the river bank. It turned out to be a great time on a hot summer night in the moonlight. I do hope to get back to that area sometime soon.
And finally, there were some first-time experiences while in Paducah. We stayed there for the last night of the festival. One of these firsts for me was when I actually had a “fried twinkie”. I’ve since found out that many people already know of this fine delicacy, but at the time I thought it was a one-of-a-kind discovery. A twinkie covered in funnel cake batter and powdered sugar on a stick… That’s almost sinful for the daughter of a diabetic! That was the day after the show… It was good, but not something I could eat on a regular basis for sure.
Grace & Peace…
